Emerald Isle is a great place for a vacation. Jason, I found your website and I was so taken by it! I have been coming to Emerald Isle since I was 12 yrs old. (now 46) My Parents traveled the coast and once they reached Emerald Isle…never went anywhere else! I even remember going across the drawbridge! Anyway, my parents always wanted to buy at place there and never could afford it, but saved their pennies to come twice a year for 30 years. (and brought the entire neighborhood!)The reason I felt compelled to contact you is that I would like to look into moving there. It’s been my dream especially since my parents are gone. Is it possible to get in touch with you about the area? I have a 9 yr old son and I don’t want to make choices based on vacation time…Need a local perspective! Thanks so much! Thanks for the kind words on the site…I’ve really been slacking on it. Emerald Isle is a GREAT place to live. The summer gets a bit crowded, but then you have the fall and all winter to enjoy the beach pretty much by yourself. Two things to think about though. First housing on an annual basis is hard to come by. Second if you need to work, employment opportunities are a little on the scarce side. If you can overcome those two hurdles you’re home free. Retired Couple with a welch corgie looking to rent an oceanfront property for $700/mo. from mid october until mid April. We have been on the island for 11 years and looking for another for this year as our rental may be sold. Also I am a handyman and can work for rent. Thank You.
